Shepton Digi Fest programme launched with exciting competition prize news!

Shepton Mallet Digital Arts Festival is back with its biggest and best line up yet.

Now in its fourth year, the 2012 festival is being held at Kilver Court, Shepton Mallet, from 7th to 10th November.

This year's events include screenings and talks, workshops, live music, comedy and exhibitions from some of the UK's most exciting comicbook, fine artists, graffiti and photography artists.

We also have a special festival programme for families and children called Shepton Digi Kids.

Highlights include:

 Merlin Crossingham from Aardman Animations

Icon Films/BBC Natural World Presents: JUNGLE GREMLINS OF JAVA

•  Grace Production Presents: MY BROTHER THE ISLAMIST

As well as Film and Photography our festival is about showcasing the very best performers, with that in mind we have introduced a music and comedy programme.

We are excited to announce that our music showcase includes: Adamski, A Man Called Adam, Cate Ferris and Phoria.

Our Comedy programme includes: James Redmond (former Hollyoaks and Casualty actor) and fresh from the Edinburgh fringe David Trent and Scott Adams.

And as always, we have competitions for budding digital artists, with the chance to not only win some great prizes, but also to put your work in front of some of the most influential people in the business.

Competition News: Win a chance to work in TV

For this year's Shepton Digi Fest competitions, we're delighted to have some amazing prizes on offer thanks to renowned Bristol production company Icon Films.

Icon Films are known internationally for their wildlife programmes and documentaries such as River Monsters and Sandhurst, and their programmes and short factual films appear regularly on the BBC including The One Show and national US television.

For our Icon Films Factual Short Film competition, they are offering winners the chance to experience programme making behind the scenes.

The prizes on offer are:

Under 12's: A critique of their next film outline and a set of Wild Scene Investigation DVDs

12-17: A day in the edit at Icon Films

18+: A day on location or in the edit at Icon Films

There are a number of other competitions in this year's festival, with more great prizes to be announced.

A programme for Kids!

For the first time, we are running a children's programme as part of the festival - and we've got some exciting events for everyone from toddlers to parents!

Younger children will be entranced by our interactive light and sound spectacle Lightstream.

You'll also be able to make your own animation or star in your own film, as well as exploring the amazing world of pinhole photography, writing computer programmes or moulding your own Aardman clay character with help from the man behind Shaun the Sheep!

And there's some unique musical theatre from the inimitable Kid Carpet and his Noisy Animals - a delightfully anarchic children's show described as Oliver Postgate meets the Beastie Boys!
