International Film Festival Organiser to join Shepton Digi Fest panel

10th of September, 2011

The Shepton Digi Fest is connecting with one of the UK’s premier short film and animation festivals to help inspire a new generation of film-makers to take their work out to a bigger market.

Liz Harkman, MD of Encounter Bristol International Film Festival, will be joining Bafta winning director Jayne Chard for a fascinating discussion on one of the most important, but often overlooked, aspects of film-making – promoting your work to an audience.

Now in its 17th year, Encounters is the UK’s longest running competitive short film and animation festival and is one of the world’s best-known showcases and meeting points for emerging talent.

Liz has worked in the film industry for 12 years starting at the British Film Institute then the UK Film Council, before the draw of festivals took hold in 2002. Since then she has worked continuously on film and animation festivals including; Animated Exeter, Edinburgh International Film Festival, Flickerfest and the Sydney Film Festival.

Shepton Digi Fest Founder Claire Sully said:  "We see connecting with Encounters as extremely important.  Encounters works with the best film makers and animators in the world and is at the heart of a very viable industry that exists on our doorstep.  We hope that by linking and learning from them we open up opportunities for those wishing to progress in these industries."

In Conversation – How To Market Your Short Film is being held on the 6th  of October 6-7pm. To book please use our booking form.
