Skillset supporting the Shepton Mallet Digital Arts Festival
August 24th, 2011
Skillset – the creative industry skills and training group – is supporting this year’s Shepton Digi Fest in its aim to develop the creative talent in the South West.
The national industry body will be promoting the festival to its extensive network in the UK creative industry, as well as attending the festival to pass on information about their initiatives to our attendees.
One area that Skillset is active in is in rolling out Apprenticeships in Creative and Digital Media.
The Advanced Apprenticeship in Creative and Digital Media gives people the chance to 'earn while you learn'. It gives experience of employment, invaluable access to industry networks and a recognised qualification.
Skillset are also behind a new accreditation scheme that looks to ensure courses keep up with the rapid pace of change in creative media, and students benefit from using the latest technologies and working with industry throughout their studies.
The Skillset Tick is a kitemark of quality indicating the media degrees and universities that best suit students as they prepare for a career in creative media. This is especially important as course fees rise.
Pippa Walkley, Partnership Manager at Skillset said:
“Skillset is committed to opening up the creative industries to a diverse range of talent. This Shepton Mallet Digital Arts Festival provides a great opportunity to bring experienced and novice practitioners in the region together, to showcase their work, exchange ideas and learn new skills”.
