10.00am – 11.00am Justin Quinnell and Take Art’s Little Big Bang Project Presents 'light play' (age 0 to 5 years only)


Come along for some "light play".  Join pinhole photographer extraordinaire Justin Quinnell and see the world as you have never seen it before with his camera magic.

This is a partnership project with Take Art and Shepton Mallet's Children Centre, quite literally a digital art class for the next generation: 0 to 5 years only.

 

10.00am - 11.30am Skills2Film workshop: Foundation Camera Craft Workshop with Jeremy Humphries


On this workshop we will lead you through the beginnings of shooting, the gear and basic techniques.  Read more on what you will learn
 

11.30am – 12.30pm Duncan Pow writing master class (1)


Duncan is a familiar face to millions, playing the character of tortured surgeon Linden Cullen in BBC's Holby City. He is also an accomplished writer and a stand-up comedian.

Duncan has been writing film scripts and stage plays for some years. He will talk about writing dialogue, which he describes as ‘bringing your characters to life, giving them a voice and how to write words the way people speak’. Be prepared for an unconventional approach to writing as Duncan articulates his writing processes.

12.00pm – 1.30pm Skills2Film Intermediate (1) Camera Craft Workshop with Jeremy Humphries


We aim to help you to begin to self shoot confidently across the documentary genre, read more about this workshop.




1.00pm – 2.00pm ‘New Light Through an Old Hole’. An illustrated lecture on Pinhole photography by Justin Quinnell


A 1-hour (ish) lecture covering the 500 million year history of pinhole imaging, including the history, science and contemporary approaches to this optical wonder.

As well as several demonstrations on camera building, the talk will include the photographers own work ranging in time from thousandths of a second to 6-month duration images of the sun, and using cameras which vary, from a small camera that can fit inside his mouth, to images made using a wheelie bin (which can’t!).

4.00pm – 5.00pm Accessible film making - Stephen Clarke/JUMPCuts, recent films and Q&A


Jumpcuts is a training and production partnership between Biggerhouse Film and Somerset Film in association with Somerset County Council and Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. 

JUMPcuts enables adults with learning difficulties to participate in the making and dissemination of digital media. From digital stories with individuals to fully developed film dramas and animations, JUMPcuts offers the training, mentoring and technical skills.



7.00pm - 8.30pm BAFTA Winning Director Rachel Tillotson and Producer Jayne Chard Presents: The Making of a Digital Short: “I’ll Tell You”.


Funded by the UK Film Council and South West Screen and made using the latest Red Camera, "I'll Tell You" was shot in and around Bristol. 

This brand new short has three BAFTA winners on the team, Jayne, Rachel and Director of Photography is Urszula Pontikos.  It also has music by Alex Heffes.  Alex’s film scores include the BAFTA-winning Touching the Void, and Oscar-winning movies One Day in September and The Last King of Scotland.

Jayne Chard will discuss the making of this film, what inspired her to produce it, the process and what happens next.
