Richard Tomlinson is Lead Creative Practitioner for Take Art's Little Big Bang project. Little Big Bang and Richard’s work provides new creative opportunities for children and families specifically within Children's Centres & Schools.
Hour one is designed for children, accompanied by an adult, as young as three years old.
Hour two is aimed at artists, early years professionals and teachers.
The focus of the first session will be early years creativity, with a particular focus on new technology as a means of creative expression. For the last hour of the session Richard will run a practical workshop for children, this is a great chance to see and explore the creative potential of digital arts.
Richard uses his experience with film and photography to give a general visual arts focus to his work with children and their families from the Centres and Schools.
For Shepton Digi Fest 2011, Richard has produced five short films with mothers and children from Hillmead Children’s Centre. With extracts from the Hillmead mums' short films, Richard will talk through the challenges, overarching benefits and unexpected moments this project has produced.
The session will include practical workshop activities, Q & A and a pack of 'digital toys' - a rucksack containing: stills, video cameras, microphone, talking dice and talking book for people to take a look at.
