Merlin - the creative director behind claymation superstars Wallace and Gromit - will be revealing some of the secrets behind the making of the famous duo's movies, as well as giving insights into what inspired him to become and animator and advice for budding animators on how to get into the industry.

Merlin's career at Aardman began as part of an animation training course that Aardman ran in conjunction with the University of the West of England some 15 years ago.

Merlin’s significant role across recent Wallace & Gromit activity eventually led to his promotion to Creative Director for Wallace & Gromit in 2009.

Merlin says he was keen to come to Shepton as he spent some years as a child living near by in Westcombe, and his sister was born in the town.

For Shepton Digi Fest, Merlin will be showing clips of his work, talking about the process of stop frame animation, how he got started and what’s coming next for him and Aardman.
