Using BBC and Independent film clips, William will explore the how, why, and where of developing musical ideas for film and television.  Above all, you'll learn about music as an essential tool for story telling.

The workshop will cover film-editing and how music can evolve and develop alongside the edit from initial sketches to delivery.

It will look into working with electronic and live sound, and how a composer needs to incorporate high-level skills both as an editor and engineer when working on the score.

Key roles will be discussed including that of broadcaster, production company, exec. contribution, producer/director, editor and composer.   William will examine creativity, precision, collaboration and responding to commercial demands.

This seminar is for anyone wishing to extend their understanding and knowledge of music and its full potential for use in wildlife film.  This session will lead into an exploration of the Art of Natural History film making with award winning producer Paul Appleby.
